ETS - Vista

Postby Dannim » Fri Sep 06, 2013 2:18 am

Hey Nick, was attempting to use ETS (standalone) to run RegeditX and Everything on a Vista 32-bit machine and was just getting the Interactive Services detection and just a grey screen when switching to "View message".

I've used it previously on Win7 without an issue, am I doing something wrong or need to make a change? Just browsed to the main executable in the GUI prompt.

...and the app you tried to run did not launch? There shouldn't be a difference in OS for that code (for Vista-8) but I've seen funkier things on Vista and typically I don't test on Vista at all. I'll try to check that out and see what the deal is; even if it fails I'm thinking you shouldn't get the Interactive prompt - that may be something I can fix if nothing else!

EDIT: ETS v1.1 is working on my Vista VM (which doesn't work very well to begin with, it's Vista...) so I wonder if it is the particular Vista you were running on with something quirky about it or what. Let me know if you continue to have these problems, also note if it is always the same software you are launching via ETS that exhibits the issue and if, say, launching something arbitrary like notepad.exe would work just fine on the affected machine.

No, neither application launched on that machine. On another machine with Vista the program did launch, but in the Interactive Services grey screen.

I'll keep an eye out for an opportunity to test on the next Vista machine across the bench and try OS programs as well (notepad, calc, whatever).

Thanks.

I just updated ETS to v1.1.1 (available for download on the website) or also it should also automatically update the copy inside your d7\Modules dir.

This version should definitely not throw the interactive services prompt, though it may still fail to work as intended on that particular system you were having the trouble with, I hold out a little hope that this resolves the issue entirely...

Great, thanks. I'll start using it and post back if there's any issue.

[Edit]Actually it appears the archive on the site download is corrupt.
