Office 365 and dSS Config

Office 365 and dSS Config

Postby barnetpcservices » Sun Dec 21, 2014 6:53 am

Hello Nick

I just purchased dSS and configuring SMTP in my first template.

I use Office 365 for my business and don't use any google products including GMail.

Office 365 SMTP details are not working with dSS. I believe its because it needs TLS 587 and not SSL 465.

Can you help me to set this up without google or any other free email accounts please?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks and regards
Yogi

Yogi,

Welcome to the group!

You might want to look at this post: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=2028&hilit=office365

As I said in the post, I had a similar problem with my own private internally managed email server which uses STARTLS encryption, look at the last post for my solution.

Thanks for your suggestion Knight. I use d7ii as well and that seems to be working fine with Office 365 settings.

dSS doesn't seem to have any option for TLS. Only option available is SSL.

For some reason I was thinking D7II, my apologies.

I just looked at my setup for dSS, and can confirm that my mail server uses TLS (and NOT SSL), and in dSS, I have Authenticate, and Use SSL both checked. Port 465. So, TLS is supported.

I hope that helps.

Hello Knight

I tested all possible combinations with SSL and port numbers, still no joy :(

According to: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libr ... 50%29.aspx
it shows that you should be using port 587. Have you tried 587? I know you said you've tried various ports, but I just want to make sure all the bases are covered.

We will get this working! Unless there's something on Nick's end, which I doubt, since my setup uses TLS, and works fine.

Hello Knight

Sorry for the delayed reply.

Yes, I tried 587 but still the same error. Your setup uses STARTLS or TLS?

So everyone else knows the answer to this:

Currently TLS/StartTLS is not supported by dSS email functionality, but there are plans to add this feature in the future.

For right now only SSL encryption is supported and an email host who supports this would need to be used. When other authentication methods are implemented those settings can be updated in the templates and deployed to the clients.
